MTNA Competitions
Performance CompetitionsThe purposes of the Music Teachers National Association Performance competitions are to provide educational experiences for students and teachers and to recognize exceptionally talented young artists and their teachers in their pursuit of musical excellence. The state competitions are considered the primary educational level with the division and national levels showcasing outstanding performance and honoring significant pedagogical achievement. The MTNA Student Competitions consist of three levels: State Competition, Division Competition and National Finals. Rules, regulations, and repertoire requirements can be found in the April/May issue of American Music Teacher, or on the MTNA web page - www.mtna.org. Applications may also be found online, or by contacting MTNA directly at 441 Vine St., Ste. 505, Cincinnati, OH 45202-2811. Phone: (513) 421-1420 or (888) 512-5278. State-level competitions take place October 8-9 at Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, OH. Deadline for submitting all applications is September 13, 2011.
