MENTOR PROGRAM
The Southeast District of OhioMTA
and the
Ohio University Collegiate Chapter of MTNA
Purpose:
To partner Ohio University MTNA Collegiate Chapter members with a professional mentor from the Southeast District of OhioMTA. The program provides students with a professional advocate to whom they can turn for advice regarding all aspects of the music teaching profession.
Responsibilities of the Mentor:
- Stay in regular contact with student via email, phone, or over lunch or coffee.
- Remind students of MTNA district, state, and national meetings and events.
- Be available and accessible to answer questions, provide advice, read pedagogy papers or listen to recital programs.
- Be a network advocate for the student. Introduce students to professionals or colleagues during meetings and events.
- Encourage students to higher levels of performance, teaching, and scholarship.
- Be an advocate of the student’s work. Seek out opportunities for the student to engage in professional activities.
